Simultaneous Membership Program

Description

The only people eligible for the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) are those who are enlisted in an Army Reserve or National Guard unit. All others who wish to join ROTC must do so without the added benefits of the SMP program. Enlisted members of TPU who contract in the ROTC Advanced Course must assume SMP status, or be discharged from their unit. They cannot remain in a TPU as a contracted ROTC cadet unless they assume SMP status.

Objective

The objective of the ROTC/SMP is to provide more ROTC graduates for the Selected Reserve.

Benefits

  1. Receive experience and serve in a TPU as a company grade officer. SMP cadets are interns, they are paired with a platoon leader and gain experience as an officer.
  2. Receive a Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GFRD) contract if desired. Nonscholarship students may request GRFD contract and, if approved, are assured they will have USAR unit duty only.
