University Artist Series:  Eliane Aberdam, Recent Chamber Works.   An evening of music for piano and strings featuring two world premiers by University of Rhode Island faculty composer Eliane Aberdam.  Also on the program are new works by Ketty Nez, Richard Cornell, Amelia Kaplan and the Sonata for Violin and Piano by Ruth Crawford.  Performers include Ann Danis, violin; Christine Harrington, cello; Manabu Takasawa, piano and the Wolfe-Nez Duo.  8:00 p.m.  Fine Arts Center Concert Hall. Great Performances:  Shamou, Persian percussionist.  Shamou’s drumming career began at an early age in his native Iran.  He began his formal music training in Tehran, studied with teachers from the Royal College of Music in London and completed his training at Berklee College of Music in Boston.  Shamou will be joined by percussionist Annegret Baer.  This performance is in conjunction with the URI Jazz & World Music Festival.  8:00 p.m.  Fine Arts Center Concert Hall, Kingston, RI.  $15 General Admission; $12 URI Faculty/Staff/Seniors; $5 Students.
