3   Saturday   Festival: URI Jazz and World Music Festival, Joseph Parillo,coordintor . An evening of jazz by an ensemble made up of URI faculty artists. 8:00 p.m. $8 General Admission; $2 students.

9   Friday   URI Jazz and World Music Festival, Liz Carroll, fiddle and John Doyle, guitar, are exciting performers and composers who take the tradition of Irish music in daring, inventive, new directions. 23   Friday   Great Performances: The Princely Players. This eight-voice gospel choir in the tradition of the Fairfield Four and the Jubilee Singers will present an evening of song coming out of the centuries old struggle for freedom by Africans in America . Their approach makes this repertoire a powerful testament of hope for us today. 8:00 p.m. $20 General Admission; $15 URI Faculty/Staff/Seniors; $5 Students.

2   Friday   Concert:  88th Army National Guard Band, Sgt. Bruce Cornelio, director.  An evening of patriotic and contemporary music showcasing the various members of this twenty piece ensemble. Free.  8:00 p.m.

3   Saturday   Festival: R. I. Percussive Arts Society. Juried performances by area high school and middle school percussion ensembles. Also features a performance by the URI Percussion Ensemble, Ronald Stable, conductor. 1:00 p.m. Free.

4    Sunday    University Artist Series: "Tamar". URI faculty, students and guest artists will present a stylized concert performance of URI composer Eliane Aberdam's newly composed dramatic work. The subject is the biblical story of Tamar and Amnon, children of King David. The libretto by Maurya Simon is an epic tale of sin and redemption. 7:30 p.m. $8 General Admission; $2 Students.

7   Concert: Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Gene Pollart, conductor. Burrilville High School Concert Band, Dalen Favali, conductor. An invitational concert featuring an area high school wind ensemble as guest performers. 7:30 p.m. Free.

This seven-member group of brass, saxophone and percussion bring the tonal palette of a symphony orchestra, the excitement of a big band, and the intimacy of a chamber ensemble to the concert stage, creating an extraordinary new sound. Their program consists of Baroque masters, contemporary classical, jazz and everything in between. 8:00 p.m. $15 General Admission; $12 URI Faculty/Staff/Seniors; $5 Students.
