JAIME THORNE, Guest Artist/Teacher of French horn and brass ensembles at the University of Rhode Island, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, Master's degree and a Performer's Certificate during a fellowship with Lisa Bontrager at the Pennsylvania State University.  She continued her studies earning an Artist Diploma form the Cleveland Institute of Music with Richard King-Principal Horn of the Cleveland Orchestra, and began her DMA studies at Rutgers under Doug Lundeen.

Thorne is an active performer having participated in concerts with the Canton Symphony as well as the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, City Music Cleveland and the Akron Symphony in Ohio. Her performance career shifted to New England after her appointment to the United States Coast Guard Band in 2006 and since she has performed with many nearby orchestras including Hartford Symphony, The Clarion Early Music Society, Connecticut Virtuosi Orchestra, Bridgeport Symphony, Wallingford Symphony, New Haven Symphony and recently accepting the third horn position in the Waterbury Symphony.  As a featured soloist, Thorne has performed with The United States Coast Guard Band, The Warwick Symphony, The American Chamber Orchestra, The International Horn Society, The Seven Hills Symphony, and The Pennsylvania State University Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. She is also a founding member of The Connecticut Woodwind Quintet, based in New London, CT.

Thorne's passion for orchestral and chamber performance is only exceeded by her skills as a music educator. She has spoken at several state music education conventions and travels the United States as an educator and soloist.  In addition to her work at URI in Kingston, she is currently an adjunct professor of horn at Connecticut College.  She assists with the Thames Valley Youth Orchestra and has a rapidly growing private studio.  Jaime is also a martial arts instructor and holds several black belts in Goju-Ryu, Shorin Ryu, and Isshin Ryu karate.
