MARK CONLEY, a conductor, composer and singer specializing in modern American and British composers, has led numerous choral ensembles across the country, from large high school festivals to small professional opera groups. He currently supervises the choral program at the University of Rhode Island and directs the auditioned Concert Choir and the select chamber ensemble Lively Experiment.
Winner of the Sadie Rafferty Choral Composition Competition, his choral and instrumental works have been performed throughout the U.S. Currently working with the Ocean State Music Collaborative, he has served as stage or music director for numerous theater companies as well as performing as opera and oratorio soloist. He has directed or performed with such companies as the Aspen Opera Theater Center, Intermountain Opera, Ocean State Lyric Opera, Papagena Opera, Ocean State Chamber Orchestra and the Bozeman and Butte (Montana) Symphony Orchestras.
An active supporter of young musical talent, he is a frequent clinician and adjudicator. He also serves as the faculty founder and sponsor of the URI student chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. With the addition of the new graduate degree in Conducting Performance, he now serves as an applied instructor to choral students in this program. He is a past president and current board member of the state chapter of ACDA. Mr. Conley's music is published by Alliance Music and earthsongs.
