String Week 2008

July 14-18

8am-noon


The URI Preparatory Music Program will hold its third annual
Summer String Week, for intermediate level students who play violin, viola, cello and bass and will be entering grades 3 through 9 in the fall.

Meg Winters and Emily Chen will return as staff.

Each day will include large ensemble rehearsals, chamber music, and sessions in music theory and string techniques.

There will also be presentations by
guest artists:
Carlos Romero will return to teach us all about bows,

Steve Beekman will discuss instrument care and repair


The week will culminate with a performance for family and friends on
Friday July 18th at noon.

String Week 2007
Was a resounding success.

Led by Meg Winters and assisted by Emily Chen, we had a visit from cellist and master pedagogue Christine Harrington, who worked with the students on
Jazz improvization.
