Professor. (Ph.D., Boston College, 1974). Professor Ramsay came to the Economics
Department at URI in 1973. From 1985 to 1990 he served in the President's office as the
Director of Planning and Institutional Research, from 1990 to 1994 he was chair of the
Economics Department, and has now returned to full time teaching.
Since returning to the department Professor Ramsay's research interests have been in the
application of economics. He has written several economic impact statements and is the
manager of the URI/Providence Journal Index of Leading Economic Indicators for the State
of Rhode Island.
Professor Ramsay has concentrated on teaching our core courses as well as the Business and Government course. He enjoys educational experimentation and has recently written articles about using TV journalism in the classroom. He would be more than happy to advise any students that enjoy learning whether their goals be graduate school or immediate employment.
