Maureen F. Moakley (Ph.D., Rutgers University, 1984), Associate Professor. Professor Moakley specializes in state politics, political parties, and women and politics. She has taught at Rutgers University, where she was a faculty associate at the Eagleton Institute of Politics and at Connecticut College. She also ran an internship program for undergraduates in Washington, D.C. Her publications include Party Realignment in the American States and Political Life of the American States. She is now completing a book on politics in Rhode Island.
Professor Moakley came to URI in 1992. At URI she teaches American Politics, The Presidency, and Women and Politics seminars, and graduate seminars on American politics and political theory. Professor Moakley also serves as the director of the newly established John Hazen White Sr. Center for Ethics and Public Service.
