Freshmen and sophomores on the Kingston campus enter all degree programs through University College. Prior to transferring from University College to the College of Arts and Sciences as a psychology major (or being coded as a psychology major in the College of Arts and Sciences), a student must earn a grade of C or better in (a) PSY 113; (b) one of the courses PSY 232, PSY 235, or PSY 254; and (c)PSY 300. FCCE students enter directly into a degree program.
In order to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree at URI, a student must earn at least 120 credits, with at least 42 credits in courses numbered 300 or above, and an overall quality point average of at least 2.00.
Requirements for the Psychology major depend on when your catalogue year. If your Academic Progress Report indicates that your catalogue year was earlier than Fall 2001, then the major in Psychology requires at least a 2.00 quality point average in 30 credits (a maximum of 45 credits) in psychology courses. However, if your catalogue year is Fall 2001 or later, then the major requires a 2.00 quality point average in 31 credits, with a maximum of 46 credits in psychology courses.
