Alan F. Hawkridge has spent the past 40 years acting, directing, and teaching in the United States and in his native England. He trained as an actor at the London Academy of Dramatic Art (L.A.M.D.A.) and worked for the BBC and various regional and fringe theatres before coming to the US to play the lead role in Claw at the Manhattan Theatre Club. In Rhode Island, Alan was the Artistic Director of the NewGate Theatre in downtown Providence and has acted in numerous productons at the Gamm Theatre. At URI, Alan has directed several mainstage productions including One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; Buried Child; Amadeus and A Flea in Her Ear. Alan will direct Shakespeare's The Taming Of The Shrew in Spring, 2011.
