Auditions

URI Theatre productions are open to any URI student so whether you’re a theatre major or an engineering major, we look forward to seeing you at our auditions. You can receive 1-3 credits if you are cast so call 874-5921 in late August to sign up for an audition or come to the second floor Theatre Office in the Fine Arts Center and just outside the Main Office, we’ll post the audition sheets. We are producing two Main stage shows and one student-directed show this fall. Here are the specific audition requirements for each main stage production.

  • October 15 through 17 and 22 through 24, 7:30 p.m.

  • October 18 and 25, 3 p.m

  Requirements

  • Actors should prepare and memorize a one-minute contemporary dramatic monologue. Please try to read the entire play prior to your audition. Copies of the script are available in the URI Theatre Office or from Dramatic Publishing at www.dramaticpublishing.com

  Requirements

  • Actors should prepare and memorize a one-minute contemporary comedic monologue and a song from the canon of musical theatre. An accompanist will be provided. Please do not prepare a selection from the show. Improvisation and movement will be included at callbacks. Please try to read the musical and familiarize yourself with the characters and the songs prior to your audition. Copies of the script are available in the URI Theatre Office or from Musical Theatre International at www.mtishows.com.
