URI Theatre

Audition Information

URI Theatre productions are open to any URI student, so whether you’re a theatre major or an engineering major, we look forward to seeing you at our auditions. You can receive 1-3 credits if you are cast, so call 874-5921 to sign up for an audition or come to the second floor Theatre Office in the Fine Arts Center. We are producing two Main stage shows this fall. Below are the specific audition requirements for each production.

Spring 2012 Auditions

Tartuffe by Moliere Tartuffe is Moliere's comic masterpiece that has been enjoyed by millions for centuries. Tartuffe insinuates himself into a wealthy Parisian household and turns it into wickedly funny pandemonium.
Director:	Thomas Gleadow
Cast size:	12 actors - 6 men, 6 women
Required:	Prepare a classical monologue and be ready to begin on time
Auditions:	Monday, December 12, from 7 - 10 p.m. (University juniors and seniors only) J Studio Tuesday, December 13, 7 - 10 p.m., J Studio
Callbacks:	Saturday, December 17, 2011, from noon - 4 pm, J Studio
Rehearsals Begin:	Monday, January 16, 2012
Performances:	Thursday-Saturday, February 23 - 25 and March 1 and 2, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 26 and March 4, 2012, 3:00 p.m.

Singin' in the Rain based on the MGM film, screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green Experience all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood's golden age. It's 1927, and Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are the toast of Tinseltown until the "Talkies" come on the scene. There will be wonderful singin' and dancin' and, yes, it really will rain onstage!
Director:	Paula McGlasson
Cast size:	30 actors - ages 16 to 60, singing and non-signing roles, and tap dancing for chorus
Requirements:	Bring sheet music, memorized selection from a stage or movie musical, bring tap shoes and wear comfortable clothes. Be ready to begin on time.
