URI Theatre

Audition Information

URI Theatre productions are open to any URI student, so whether you’re a theatre major or an engineering major, we look forward to seeing you at our auditions. You can receive 1-3 credits if you are cast, so call 874-5921 to sign up for an audition or come to the second floor Theatre Office in the Fine Arts Center. We are producing two Main stage shows this fall. Below are the specific audition requirements for each production.

Spring 2013 Auditions

Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare
Director:	Bryna Wortman
Cast size:	4 Women, 20 Men, and 5 roles to be determined
Required:	Prepare a 1 to 2 minute monologue from a Shakespeare play (preferably a comedy) expressing strong thoughts and /or feelings or presenting a strong point of view. Please read the entire play of Much Ado About Nothing prior to your audition. Copies of the script are available in the URI Theatre Office. Be prepared to read sides at auditions and definitely at callbacks.
Auditions:	Sunday, Feb.3, 2013, 1-6 pm in G-Studio. Juniors, Seniors and Students in Lila and Paula's class. Monday, Feb.4, 2013, 4-8 pm in J-Studio. KCACTF Finalists, Freshmen, Sophomores and all others. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your audition time to fill out paperwork.
Callbacks:	Sunday, February 10, 2013, 1-6 pm in Robert E. Will Theatre
Rehearsals Begin:	Tuesday, March 5, 2013
Performances:	Thursdays-Saturdays, April 18-20 & 25-27, 2013 , 7:30pm. Sundays, April 21 & 28, 2013, 3:00pm.
