
The 2009 College of Arts and Sciences Film Festival will announce winners in each of the categories, and select the Fred Joyal Best of Festival Prize, on Thursday, April 30, 2009, starting at 7 p.m.
The 8 Categories for Visualizations 2009 are:
Animation, Experimental, Documentary, News Segment; Commercial/PSA; Narrative/Open; Critical Essay and Film Treatment.
All entries and completed entries forms must be submitted to the official collection point located on the second floor lobby of Chafee on April 7th and 8th on the second floor lobby of Chafee.
Entries must be delivered in person on Tuesday, April 7, 12 noon to 4p.m., and Wednesday, April 8, 10 am. to 5p.m. Please refer to Category Guidelines for specific regulations, including time limits for entries.
Cash prizes and awards for all categories are as follows:
1st Prize in each category: $400, plus a Red Carpet Pass to the 2009 RI International Film Festival, which provides access to festival events, opening and closing films, after parties screenings and more, valued at $425.
2nd Prize in each category: $150, plus 2 Cine-Passes to the 2009 RI International Film Festival, which includes the Saturday night film and party, access to 4 film screenings per day, and the private closing night staff and filmmaker party, valued at $125.
3rd Prize in each category: $50, plus Cine-Passes to the 2009 RI International Film Festival.
The Fred Joyal Best-of-Festival Prize: an additional $100, plus a Governor’s Pass to the RI International Film Festival, valued at $1,000.
Dean’s Choice Award: $100, chosen from the 2nd & 3rd place winners.
Also, all winners will receive two-day passes to the RI international Film Forum, valued at $75.

All 1st Place films will be eligible for a special screening at the 2009 RIIFF, August, 2009,
All URI undergraduates who are currently enrolled for 2008/2009 are eligible to enter the Festival.
