Scenes from Women's Studies

In Loving Memory of Erica Knowles

KNOWLES, ERICA L., 23, of Wakefield, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Born in South Kingstown, Erica was the beloved daughter of Shiela (Wood) Priore and her husband John Priore of Alpharetta, GA; and the late John Knowles and his wife Carla Knowles of Wakefield. Erica was studying journalism and women's studies at the University of Rhode Island. An artist, Erica enjoyed photography, poetry, painting and drawing. She was a hostess at Turtle Soup in Narragansett. Erica was a shooting star. An amazing streak of light in the world where next to her everything seemed so lifeless and dull. She had an infectious laughter, undeniable spirit, and was a loyal friend. Erica was an adventurer. She taught all of us how to toss aside our small ambitions and reach for our biggest and brightest dreams and will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who love her. Erica lived life with an inspirational freedom that most of us never dare dream. In addition to her mother, step-father and step-mother, she leaves two sisters, Ashley L. Knowles of Charleston, SC and Sydney B. Priore of Alpharetta, GA; a brother, Vito J. Priore of Alpharetta, GA; her maternal grandfather, George Wood of West Kingston; her paternal grandparents, Franklin and Phyllis Knowles of Cranston. She was the granddaughter of the late Beatrice P. Wood. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11am at Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia Street, Peace Dale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 will be appreciated. For information and condolences
