Melanie Shapiro

     Melanie is in her last year of law school at Roger Williams University School of Law where she has received honors in the Immigration Clinic and Genocide & Atrocity Crimes and is a Public Interest Scholar. She plans to take the bar exam in July 2012 in MA and CT. She has been working for a year as a student attorney for the Roger Williams Immigration Clinic, representing non citizens in their applications for relief before the Immigration Court in Boston and US Citizenship and Immigration Services. In the spring, she will be doing an externship with Catholic Social Services's Immigration law program.  After law school, she plans to open an immigration firm, focusing her practice on asylum, special immigrant juvenile status cases, Violence Against Women petitions, U & T visas, hearings on bond, etc.
