Graduate Certificate Program

The Graduate Certificate Program is open to matriculating and non-matriculating students.

Majors

The Women's Studies major requires 30 credits.
There are five required core courses (15 credits):

  • WMS 150 - Introduction to Women's Studies
  • WMS 300 - Field Experience OR WMS 320 - Feminist Thought into Action
  • WMS 310 - Race, Class, and Sexualities in Women's Lives
  • WMS 315 - Intro to Feminist Theories and Methodologies
  • WMS 400 - Critical Issues and Feminist Scholarship

The remaining 15 credits may be selected from other WMS courses, or approved cross-listed courses offered through other academic departments. See the list of approved courses available on this website. Please note that courses in your primary major may not be used to fulfill your General Education requirements.

The WMS Advisory committee recommends that students majoring in women's studies either take an additional 18 credits in one area as a minor or take a double major so as to combine their interests in Women's Studies with a traditional discipline.

Minors

The Women's Studies minor requires 18 credits, including WMS 150, WMS 315, and three credits from any WMS course. The remaining nine credits may be selected from any WMS-designated courses or approved cross-listed courses. Click on the course listing button to see the approved courses in other departments.
