Creating New Partnerships: Linking Research and Practice in the United States and Ukraine to Respond to the Challenges of Crime

Project Overview

The National Institute of Justice and the Ukrainian Academy of Law Sciences are currently engaged in a multi year initiative entitled, "Creating New Partnerships: Linking Research and Practice in the United States and Ukraine to Respond to the Challenges of Crime."

This partnership program is part of an interagency agreement with the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the Department of State. The overall program is constructed along three dimensions:

Internet Grants program that will build the technical capacity and infrastructure required for research;

Experience Exchange program, that will assess the fit between U.S. law enforcement training and assistance efforts and Ukrainian practitioner needs;

Research Partnership program, in which U.S. and Ukraine research teams will collaboratively study five high priority crime areas that affect both countries: organized crime, corruption, drug trafficking, human trafficking and economic crimes.
