Information and Scheduling
From the University Manual 8.20.19:
Are you eligible?
Students with proof of a verbal SAT score of 650 or higher may take this exam. If you are not contacted by us this fall semester, please bring us proof of your SAT score.
Are you already exempt?
If you have already taken a college-level writing course, or if you have certain kinds of AP credit, or if you are currently enrolled in WRT 104, 105, or 106, you may be exempt from 3 ECw credits already, and needn’t also take the exam. Check you transcript, and ask your advisor.
How do you sign up?

When do you take it?
You must schedule and complete the exam by the end of your first fall semester. For 2009, you have until December 10th.
What does the exam entail?
The exam lasts two hours. You will receive a packet with readings on selected topics, and you will be asked to write an essay that takes a supported stand on one of them.
What do I bring?
You’ll need your student ID, a pen, and some paper.essay that takes a supported stand on one of them.
All seniors in the Writing & Rhetoric major complete an electronic portfolio through our capstone course, WRT 495. The Spring 2009 class, consisting of Sam Fuller, Jessica Notardonato, Samantha Notardonato, Rob Petrin, Tatiana M. Uhoch, and Emily Weintraub, marked the second year for graduating our pioneer Writing & Rhetoric majors.
