Writing Consultants and Tutors
Undergraduate students who have taken WRT 353, a 3-credit tutor training course called "Issues and Methods in Writing Consultancy" are eligible to apply to become tutors in one of four locations:
In the URI Writing Center, faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students tutor side by side, and collaborate on research projects about writing. In addition to each person's set tutoring schedule, weekly staff meetings are mandatory.

Discipline-Specific Writing Consultants
Undergraduate Writing Consultants focus their tutoring efforts on writing for specific disciplines. In some cases, Writing Consultants are attached to a particular course and instructor, and work closely with the students in that class. In other cases, Writing Consultants work on writing assessment and other writing-centered research projects for various disciplines.

Tutoring at Central Falls High School, at URI Academy
URI has teamed up with Central Falls High School, in an effort to help prepare more of their students for college. URI undergraduates who have taken WRT 353 are eligible to become tutors during the summer pre-matriculation program (tutoring for WRT 100), or in the spring Dual Enrollment program (tutoring for WRT 104).

Spotlight
E-Portfolio Presentations
All seniors in the Writing & Rhetoric major complete an electronic portfolio through our capstone course, WRT 495. The Spring 2009 class, consisting of Sam Fuller, Jessica Notardonato, Samantha Notardonato, Rob Petrin, Tatiana M. Uhoch, and Emily Weintraub, marked the second year for graduating our pioneer Writing & Rhetoric majors.
