Business Assessment Definitions

Write Effectively:  The assessment examines a student’s writing skills.  This assessment only should be done after the student has completed other comparable written assignments in which the student has received specific feedback.

Oral Communication:  The assessment examines a student’s oral communication skills.  This assessment only should be done after the student has completed other comparable oral communication assignments in which the student has received specific feedback.

Ability to Integrate:  This assessment examines whether the student can demonstrate an understanding of analysis, interpretation and/or use of quantitative or qualitative data across topics within a course or across different disciplines.

Information Literacy:  This assessment examines whether the student has an understanding of one or more information technologies such as (1) web-based research (access to and evaluation of information) and (2) use of business software for problem solving or case analysis.

Understanding Ethical Issues:  This assessment examines whether the student can demonstrate an understanding of the ethical issues facing managers and/or businesses.  This assessment only should be done after the student has completed other comparable ethical issue assignments in which the student has received specific feedback.

Teamwork:  This assessment examines whether the student demonstrates the ability to work effectively as part of a group.

Core Knowledge:  Key concepts as defined by each business discipline.
