Monday - Friday: 6:45 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Monday - Friday: 6:45 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. CLOSED
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. CLOSED

NOTE: Fitness Center Hours are subject to change due to holidays, special events, breaks, etc. Please check the bi-weekly facility schedule for any changes.

POLICIES  &  PROCEDURES

  1. Patrons are expected to comply with Fitness Center staff directives.
  2. Members should NOT attempt to use equipment which they are unfamiliar with. Orientation appointments are recommended.  Appointments can be arranged in person at the REC Service Center. 
  3. All members are required to present  a valid URI STUDENT ID Card or a current Mackal Membership Card to the fitness attendant as they enter the Fitness Center and retrieve it when they have completed their workout.  The  number of participants allowed into the Center at one time will be limited according to A.C.S.M. (American College of Sports Medicine) safety standards. During peak capacity, patrons will be asked to wait on the benches provided directly outside the Center. 
  4. Weight belts are NOT to be worn when using any of the Cybex equipment. 
  5. The use of the cardiovascular machines is limited to 30 minutes. 
  6. Use of Free Weights: 
    • Re-Rack all weight plates immediately after use.
    • Return dumbbells to rack in order.
    • Do not slam or drop free weights on the floor.
    • Collars are mandatory on all lifts with Olympic bars.
    • Do not lean weights against walls, glass, or equipment.
  7. Spotters are recommended on all lifts.
  8. Screaming or use of offensive language will NOT be tolerated anywhere in the facility.
  9. Equipment may not be removed from the Fitness Center at anytime for any reason.
  10. Members who perspire heavily must carry a towel and wipe off benches after using them.
  11. No more than four (4) members of any one varsity or club sport team may use the room at the same time. Team training sessions are NOT permitted.
  12. Shirts, athletic shoes and proper athletic attire are required at all times. Changing of clothes is NOT permitted in the Fitness Center. Jeans, jean shorts, hiking boots and open toed shoes are NOT permitted.
  13. Chalk is NOT permitted in the Fitness Center.
  14. Personal belongings (coats, gym bags, back packs, etc.) are NOT permitted in the Fitness Center. These objects are NOT to be placed behind the desk. Please store items in blue carrals located by the indoor track and/or use the recreational locker rooms.
  15. Personal radios (other than walk-mans) are NOT permitted in the Fitness Center.
  16. Tobacco, food, chewing gum, glass bottles and cans are NOT permitted in the Fitness Center.
  17. Members should immediately report any Fitness Center related injury or facility/equipment irregularity to the staff on duty.
  18. Intentional misuse of equipment and/or facility may result in immediate expulsion. Failure to leave when asked may result in assistance from security personnel and loss of facility privileges.
