NOTE: Beginning with the June 25th construction updates, the captions associated with the photos are provided to us by Mike Sormanti, Gilbane’s senior general superintendent on the CBLS construction project. Photos are by Rudi Hempe, CELS News editor, reporter, and photographer.

Left: A wall of windows will let people look out over the west side of the campus from the fourth floor of the teaching wing. A roof garden will be planted on the platform outside the windows.

Middle: A wall of windows will let people look out over the west side of the campus from the fourth floor of the teaching wing. A roof garden will be planted on the platform outside the windows.

Right: Ironworkers hoist a beam that will support a set of stairs in the area between the teaching and research wings. The main staircase, which will be enclosed in glass, will be one of the trickiest and time-consuming projects in the CBLS. The design calls for a lot of piecework and precise fitting and one estimate is it will not be completed until the building is nearly ready for occupancy.
