"Sustainability is a way of living with the world that respects the natural systems on which we depend and emphasizes the unique cultural attributes that make one place different from another. It is predicated on the belief that the places where we live, work, and play should be safe, connected, and resilient and should express the values of environmental protection, conservation and restoration. Sustainable places are memorable and attractive and they express a sense of place, aiming to allow all people to share in their benefits without degrading the underlying systems." |
