...that's what nebulae are all about.

What is a nebula? (Nebulae for plural)

A Nebula is created from the dust and gas that is left in space after a star explodes.
EXPLODE?  Did you know that stars explode?

They sure do!  Can you imagine that?

The patterns that the dust and gas form after the star explodes are sometimes used to name the nebula,
as in ...

...The Ring Nebula  The Ring Nebula

Or,

 The Lagoon Nebula The Lagoon Nebula

  

And sometimes, as time goes on, that same dust and gas will be used to form new stars.
