
Don't adjust your screen! This picture is not turned incorrectly. This is really the way Uranus is positioned. It's rings are going from top to bottom, instead of from side to side like Saturn's rings. Not only that, but the planet itself has shifted 90 degrees onto its side.
It is believed that this planet was once turned like Saturn. It is also believed that something happened to Uranus during the formation of the Solar System that caused it to turn on it's side the way it is shown here. Boy, it does look a little strange, but space can be a pretty strange place! Click here.
