MANAGELULegend.lyr

This layer is intended to be used with RIGIS Land Use data.  The legend information provided 
in this file provides a standard way to group land use data for display.  The legend
is generally utilized for MANAGE mapping, but can be used for color coding
any RIGIS land use data set with a field title of "code95". 

To use the layer, add the layer to the desired ArcView project and then set the layer 
data source to the desired file (under layer Properties).  Under the legend
section, the legend should be using the "code95" field of the data file as a reference.  See 
MANAGE technical documentation (Page 8) for further information on how the land use codes are 
grouped by this legend.  Data should automatically be coded in the correct colors.

The table below summarizes how the layer groups the RIGIS "code95" land use types

Manage code: The numeric category that MANAGE method groups land use data by.

Manage category: The descriptive category that MANAGE method groups land use data by.

RIGIS category and code: The RIGIS land use category and associated code number

High Intensity Land Use: land uses designated in MANAGE as having a greater potential pollution 
load.  The designations as presented above were used in the SWAP reports and are provided here 
for reference.

Land Use Legend Category: Land use aggregates generally utilized in legend for mapping land 
use data.  The legend and instructions for use are provided for download on the RI NEMO 
web-site (http://www.uri.edu/ce/wq/NEMO/Tools/mapping.htm) 

Color:  approximate color designating land use legend category.
