Algae Concentration as Measured by Chlorophyll Levels
Oligotrophic < 2.6 ppb, low algae levels
Mesotrophic 2.6-7.2 ppb, moderate algae levels
Eutrophic > 7.2 ppb, elevated algae levels; indicates an algae bloom
Hypereutrophic > 35 ppb, extremely high algae levels; "pea soup" conditions

Dissolved Oxygen > 5 mg/L, good
Dissolved Oxygen 3-5 mg/L, low oxygen
Dissolved Oxygen < 3 mg/L, incapable of supporting aquatic life
