My research interests are concentrated in three areas: 1) movement patterns and habitat use of marine fishes; 2) conservation and wise utilization of marine resources; and 3) biochemical and physiological capabilities of marine fishes. These topics are interrelated by the major theme of environmental conditions and their influence on the biochemistry, physiology, short-term movements and ultimately, migration and distribution of fishes. Movement and distribution patterns are in turn major determinants of the potential or vulnerability of a population to withstand exploitation by humans, and thus are vital to efficient resource use and effective conservation.
