Christopher Lapointe - I am currently in an MS program at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in Coastal Zone Management and Marine Biology. I had a job with the U.S. Geological Survey monitoring seagrass health in FL Bay until this April. I am currently in Guam for two weeks surveying the reefs of Apra Harbor for the Navy. I have been cleared to use any data I collect for my thesis. Diving on sites with 100% coral cover is awesome. (cjlapointe@mail.uri.edu)

Kelly Pennoyer - Lab Assistant for Dr. Goldsmith (BioSci); Teaching Assistant, BIO 101 at the URI CCE campus; Assistant Instructor for AFS 270 to get dive master certification

Kate Pisano (kfp0425@savebay.org) - I just started my Americorps term with OSEEC (Ocean State Environmental Education Collaborative), which includes Save the Bay, Roger Williams Zoo, and the Norman Bird Sanctuary. At Save the Bay, I am doing outreach to the South County community through programs for elementary school students and the general public, such as our film festival. I have been able to work at the Exploration Center in Newport, helping at touch tanks, shore line walks, and seal watches, as in the Providence office where Americorps work with various schools and the Boys and Girls Clubs. While my goals as a marine bio graduate still include grad school and ultimately doing research, the education aspect has been very interesting and rewarding, and I would recommend Americorps to anyone looking to get their foot in the door.
