Curriculum Vitae (PDF)

My interest in marine ecology began as an undergraduate at Providence College where I studied the dietary habits and seasonal abundance of ctenophores in Narragansett Bay, RI. During this time I also worked as an intern in the Edgerton Research Laboratory at the New England Aquarium, assisting in both the Jelly Culture Lab and the American Lobster Research Program.

Currently, my interests lie in coastal wetland and intertidal ecology. My research examines the role that drifting macroalgal blooms may play in the salt marsh ecosystem and how their effects may alter trophic dynamics. I am particularly interested in determining if the excess nutrients from the macroalgae that are being introduced into the salt marsh system can be used to naturally restore the growth of native Spartina alterniflora, the dominant plant in New England salt marshes.  I am also participating in a project to determine the species composition and abundance of macroalgae that is present within Narragansett Bay.
