Outreach at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

The URI Outreach Center hosts educational programs at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center (RWPBC) in Providence, RI for the general public located in greater Providence and southern New England region. Programs are conducted in partnership with staff at the RWPBC and with horticultural groups throughout the region.

Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

The URI Outreach Center has extended its sustainable horticulture and urban agriculture programming to Providence and surrounding areas through a partnership with the Providence Parks Department at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center. Opening to the public on March 2, 2007, the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center (RWP BC) is the largest public indoor display garden in New England. The 12,000ft2 state-of-the-art facility houses an extraordinary array of flowers, rare plants, waterfalls and unique exhibits, including carnivorous plants and towering palm trees. Horticultural displays change throughout the year in the conservatory to encourage visitors to return for new experiences. To highlight this spectacular space, the URI Outreach Center offers guided tours of the Botanical Center led by trained URI Master Gardener docents and seasonal horticultural education programs taught by URI staff and partners.
