URI Outreach Center at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

Jo-Ann Bouley , Coordinator

The CELS Outreach Center at RWP BC is an educational facility located in the Botanical Center at Roger Williams Park. Through the facility, URI provides educational programs and information to the general public located in greater Providence and southern New England region. Programs are conducted in partnership with staff at the RWP BC and with horticultural groups throughout the region.

The Botanical Center at Roger Williams Park

Opening to the public on March 2, 2007, the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center (RWP BC) is the largest public indoor display gardens in New England. The 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility houses an extraordinary array of flowers, rare plants, waterfalls and unique exhibits, including carnivorous plants and towering palm trees. The glass ceiling inside the conservatory reaches 40-feet high and sensors automatically raise and lower electronic shades based upon the optimal interior climate and the amount of natural light inside the facility. Horticultural displays are changed throughout the year in the conservatory to encourage visitors to return for new experiences. The RWP BC also features classroom space in two restored Lord and Burnham Greenhouses built in the 1960’s as well as facilities for indoor and outdoor events.

The Botanical Center is open to the public from 11AM - 4 PM Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays (except holidays). The last ticket will be sold at 3:30pm
