Common Hackberry

Medium sized tree has grayish bark with corky ridges and dull green leaves. Fruit in fall is eaten by birds and wildlife. Adaptable, grows in sandy or heavy soil, acid or alkaline, tolerates wet or very dry areas, wind, full sun. Easily transplanted. Native to RI. 40-60' x 40-60'.
