Cephalanthus occidentalis

Buttonbush

Deciduous shrub with glossy green foliage which leafs out late in spring. Fragrant white flowers in globular heads bloom all summer. Brownish fruits persist through winter. Full sun to part shade. Tolerates wet soil and standing water. Native to RI. 3-6' x 3-6'.
