Juglans cinerea

Butternut

Large tree with open, wide-spreading crown. Leaves are pinnately compound, 10-20' long, dark green. Ridged gray and white bark. Seeds (nuts) are sweet and edible. Prefers moist, rich, deep soil. Native to RI. 40-60' x 30-50'.
