Juniperus communis
Common Juniper
A slow-growing evergreen shrub with a sprawling habit, occasionally
with a small upright tree form. Prickly foliage is gray-green
to blue green in summer, somewhat more yellowish in winter.
Reddish brown scaly bark. Full sun. Transplants easily. Tolerates
sandy, dry infertile soils, wind, pH adaptable. Less heat
tolerant than other junipers. Native to RI. 5-10' x 8-12'.
