Eastern Cottonwood

Large, fast-growing deciduous tree. Light to medium green leaves in summer, dropping early in fall. Bark is ash gray with deep fissures on mature trees. Tufted seeds are the “cotton” on the tree in June/July. Easily transplanted. Prefers moist soils but will tolerate dry soil, salt, pH adaptable. Cold hardy. Native to RI. 75-100’ x 50-75’.
