Common Hoptree

Small tree or large suckering shrub. Trifoliate deciduous leaves are dark green, turning yellowish green in autumn. Whitish flowers bloom in late spring. Smooth glossy dark gray to brown bark. Prefers well-drained, moist soil. Adaptable to sun or shade. Tolerates under-story placement. Native to Eastern US. 15-20’ x 15-20’.
