Rhus copallinum

Winged Sumac or Shining Sumac

Large suckering shrub with long compound leaves, shiny dark green in summer changing to red and scarlet in fall. Small hairy red berries in clusters. Tolerates dry soil, full sun, will stabilize steep banks or hills. Native to RI. 20-30’ x 20-30’.
