Vernonia noveboracensis
New York Ironweed
Also known as V. noveboriensis. Tall perennial with pointed lanceolate leaves. Purple flowers in large clusters in late summer are followed by rusty colored seed heads. Full sun, moist acidic soil, will tolerate drought. Native to RI. 3-7’ x 2-3’.
