Power Shift 2007
When: 11/2 - 11/5
What: Power Shift 2007 will be the first-ever national
youth summit on global warming. Thousands of young people
from across the country will hear from leaders and experts
in the global warming movement such as invited speakers former
Vice President Al Gore, Majora Carter of Sustainable South
Bronx, James Hansen and comedian Jon Stewart. In workshops
such as "Leadership Development" and "Working
with the Media" students will also learn skills of organizing
and activism from the best in the business. The summit culminates
on Monday with a rally on Capitol Hill. It is our generation
that will face the consequences of not acting to halt global
warming now, and it will be our vision, our will and our power
that finally tips the balance in the global warming struggle.

1. Environmental Chemist / Chemical Oceanographer
Who: The candidate should have a Bachelors or Master's
degree in chemical oceanography, chemical engineering, chemistry
or equivalent. The position is focused on computer modeling
and evaluations of data and/or literature, with no laboratory
analysis and minimal filed work involved. Experience in the
application of quantitative analyses to solve environmental
problems is preferred. Experience in modeling, programming,
ArcGIS, proficiency of the MS Office Suite, and strong writing,
research, communication and presentation skills are highly
desirable.

4. Pathways Molecular & Cellular Biologist(BS/MS)
Who: Successful candidate will have a BS or MS in
Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, with 1+ years
of laboratory research experience. Experience in mammalian
cell culture, generation of stable cell lines, transient transfection
of cell lines and FACS. Proficient in genetic screening with
siRNA/shRNA/cDNA by conventional or viral transduction technologies.
Experience with various protein technologies including, but
not limited to Western blotting and immunoprecipitation. Solid
molecular biology experience including qPCR, site-directed
mutagenesis, and DNA cloning. Experience with in vivo tumor
models and handling of laboratory animals a plus. Excellent
communication and presentation skills.
