The Environmental Sciences Research
and Training
Opportunities Program (RTOP)
is offered through a consortium of institutions of higher
education and provides training opportunities for undergraduate
and graduate student scientists. Funded by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency's National Health and Environmental Effects
Research
Laboratory (NHEERL), this
program
is a reflection of EPA's Office of Research and Development
(ORD) strategy to promote diversity in the work environment
through the development of a diverse work force. This program
aspires to:
- Inspire, train & support the
next generation of environmental scientists
- Increase and diversify the
candidate pool for future employment in the
Environmental Sciences
- Support training opportunities
consistent with the current environmental
and ecological research objectives at NHEERL's Ecology divisions
