Research focuses on igneous
and metamorphic rocks, and the interpretations of earth processes relevant
to crustal evolution. Recent
research includes:

Investigation
of mountain-building events in the New England segment of the
Appalachians.

Study
of the dynamics of large-scale magma chambers, such as those of the
Sierra Nevada.

Investigating
the role of magma-mixing in the formation of granites.

Use
of trace elements to characterize orogenic vs. anorogenic tectonic
regimes.
-
Investigation of the metamorphism of carbonaceous
materials.
