Geophysics Option

Above and beyond the general education, supporting science, and core curricular courses, the General Geology option requires the following courses:

  • GEO 465 – Introduction to Geophysics (3 credits)

  • GEL/CVE 485 – Environmental Engineering Geophysics (3 credits)

Students must further select from the following elective courses to complete the major.  Two courses should be selected, consisting of 6-8 credits:

  • GEO 421 – Geochemistry (3 credits)

  • GEO 468 – Ground-water Geochemistry (4 credits)

  • GEO 483 – Hydrogeology (4 credits)

  • GEO 565 – Geophysical Methods (3 credits)

 The balance of the 126 credits required for the B.S. in Geosciences major may be taken as free electives.
