Sedimentary Geology Option

Above and beyond the general education, supporting science, and core curricular courses, the Sedimentary Geology option requires the following courses:

  • GEO 210 – Landforms:  Origin and Evolution (4 credits)

  • GEO 240 – History of Life (4 credits) or GEO/BIO 350 - Evolution (4 credits)

  • GEO 468 – Ground-Water Chemistry (4 credits)

Students must further select from the following elective courses to complete the major.  Two courses should be selected, consisting of 6-8 credits: 

GEO 277 – Coastal Geological Environments (3 credits)

GEO 350 – Evolution (4 credits)

GEO 421 – Geochemistry (3 credits)

GEO 465  - Introduction to Geophysics (3 credits)

GEO 515 – Glacial Geology (3 credits)

GEO 554 – Sedimentary Petrology (3 credits)

NRS 423 – Wetland Ecology (4 credits)

NRS 424 – Wetlands and Land Use (4 credits)

The balance of the 126 credits required for the B.S. in Geosciences major may be taken as free electives.
