List of Suggested Courses for Professional Students
 

The following courses constitute our recommended program for students who are preparing for professional school. Students must also complete all requirements for their chosen major. The recommended courses should be completed prior to taking the required entrance examination, usually at the end of the junior year. Students should begin math and chemistry courses in their freshman year.

 
Biology (At least 10-12 credits):

  • BIO 101 and 102 (Principles of Biology I & II)
  • BIO 121 (Human Anatomy)
  • MIC 201 or 211 (Microbiology)
  • BIO 201 (Animal Physiology)
  • BIO 304 (Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy)
  • BIO 242 (Human Physiology) and BIO 244 (Lab)
  • BIO 302 (Animal Development)
  • BIO 327 (Vertebrate Histology) and 329 (Lab)
  • BIO 341 (Cell Biology)
  • BIO 352 (Genetics) (also cross-listed as BCH 352, ASP352 or PLS352)
  • BIO 437 (Fundamentals of Molecular Biology)
  • BIO 442 (Mammalian Physiology)
  • BIO 445 (Endocrinology)
  • BIO 446 (Neurobiology)
  • BIO 453 (Cell Biology)

Chemistry (19 credits):
 
  • CHM 101, 102 (General Chemistry & Lab)
  • CHM 112, 114 (General Chemistry & Lab)
  • CHM 227 (Organic Chemistry)
  • CHM 228 and 226 (Organic Chemistry & Lab)
  • BCH 311 (Biochemistry)
Physics (8 credits):
 
  • PHY 111, 185 and PHY 112, 186 (General Physics & Labs) or
  • PHY 203, 204, 205 (Elementary Physics & Labs)
Mathematics (6 credits):
 
  • MTH 131 and 132 or
  • MTH 141 and 142
English (6 credits):
 
  • WRT 104 or 105 (Writing) and one English Literature course (200 level or higher)
