We are a group of dynamic landscape architects who work in a renovated mill complex in the Gordon Center for the Arts along the Charles River in Waltham upstream from Cambridge. We currently are working on a wide variety of projects in the northeast and have been involved in noteworthy projects both in the northeast and farther afield. On the boards right now, we have a hotel/restaurant complex, a seaside community, housing and mixed-use developments, campus planning and campus smaller scale design implementation, and several high-end residences. We work collaboratively with a number of architects and engineers. Also, we provide support to other design firms who rely on us for construction phase implementation efforts.
Our landscape architects work collaboratively within the office, either working on all aspects of a project, or if need be shifting to assist on other projects as deadlines occur. The candidate should anticipate involvement on most projects will be from schematic design through construction observation during the implementation phase. We are searching for a candidate that will bring enthusiasm and a great attitude to their work. This candidate needs to be an excellent communicator, a good team player, a person who can work and think independently with ongoing review and feedback from the senior landscape architects. The firm needs a strong candidate that can work on a variety of projects, have versatile skills, be intellectually nimble and be able to work with a wide range of clients. At our best, we push boundaries and search for the less obvious solutions to design and construction problems.
We understand that our new hire may not have a fully developed set of skills, but we expect that they aspire to build a strong set of skills as well as possess an innate sense of design. This person should be able to set priorities and balance and meet conflicting deadlines.
The office currently uses ACAD 2012, Adobe Creative Suites, MS Office and Sketch-up. We expect that the new hire will be reasonably proficient on these platforms. However, we are open to acquiring and learning other programs and look to the new hire to contribute to our digital growth.
Please anticipate being asked to wield a pen and mat knife on occasion (we do build models by hand as well as create digital models).
We plan to hire fairly soon. If you feel you meet the criteria outlined above, please send your resume and a digital portfolio to Heather Thompson-Ryan (firstname.lastname@example.org).
