Claire McElderry (MS '98) visited with us recently. Claire
lives in Block Island, RI, where she has her own consulting company—Island
Environmental—doing soil evaluations
and septic system design.

Congratulations to Erika Patenaude (Nicosia) (BS '00) on the
successful defense of her M. S. thesis, "Effects of tetracycline on
water quality in conventional and aerated septic system leachfields" on
June 22nd.
LSEM alumna Mary Savin (MS '95, Ph.D. '99) was promoted
to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure in the Dept. of Crop,
Soil and Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas in
Fayetteville, AR. Way to go, Mary!
Best wishes to Nicole Schwarz, who graduated this May with a
B.S. in Wildlife Biology and Conservation, and will be returning to her
native Ecuador this summer.

Congratulations to Janet Atoyan (BS '04) on the successful defense of
her M.S. thesis, "Effects of tetracycline on fecal indicator bacteria
and microbial community structure in conventional and aerated septic
system leachfield soils" on April 18th.
Dave Millar presented his departmental graduate seminar
presentation, entitled: "Evaluation of soil quality on sod farms" on
April 21st.

We recently ran into Julie Swistak (BS '94). Julie has three
children (and another one on the way) and lives in Jamestown, RI.

America in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Congratulations to Erika Nicosia (now Patenaude) (BS
'00) and her husband, Nayt
Patenaude, who were married in a beautiful ceremony at her childhood
home in Schuylerville, NY this September.
