Major plus Language
Chinese Flagship Scholars are the next generation of Global Professionals; all pursue a major in a field of their choice in addition to intensive study of the Chinese language and culture.
Tracks
The URI Chinese Flagship program offers a beginner track for students with little or no prior knowledge of Chinese, and an intermediate/advanced track for students who studied Chinese in high school or learned the language at home.
Winter Immersion Program
For two weeks during Winter Break, Chinese Flagship Scholars and their instructors immerse themselves in Chinese-only environment.
Summer Study
Summer study is an integral part of the Chinese Flagship program, with students spending 2-3 summers studying the language intensively in RI and in China.
Capstone Year In China
Flagship Scholars spend a full year in China; a semester of study at Nanjing University followed by a professional internship.
