Erin Papa is Assistant Director of the URI Chinese Language Flagship Program in charge of program outreach and administration, and also serves as Director of the Rhode Island Roadmap to Language Excellence Initiative. She is currently pursuing a PhD with a focus on bilingual education through the University of Rhode Island/Rhode Island College Joint Doctoral Program in Education.
Erin previously held the position of Program Coordinator for the International Engineering Program (IEP), of which she is a graduate. She studied abroad at the Technische Universitaet Braunschweig during the winter semester in 1999-2000 and followed that semester with an internship in the environmental protection and safety department of Beiersdorf AG in Hamburg, Germany. After working as an engineer for some time at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Erin decided to devote herself to the field of international education.
Erin has taught English as a Second Language in public schools in Central Falls, RI and Melbourne, Australia and at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI and Zhejiang University City College in Hangzhou, China. While in Hangzhou, Erin also studied Mandarin at Zhejiang University and co-coordinated the first IEP Study Tour to China in summer 2006.
