Graduate Commencement Ceremony

The Ryan Center
(No tickets required)

  • 12:15 p.m.—Candidates assemble in academic attire in the west corridor of the Ryan Center. Enter through the north entrance (Lincoln Almond Plaza). Please be prompt. The marshals will organize the line of march by degree to be conferred and in alphabetical order.

  • 1 p.m.—Commencement exercises begin in the Ryan Center. Graduate degree candidates will convene in the Ryan Center and sit in designated areas. During the ceremony, they will be escorted to the stage by University marshals and file across the platform. Doctoral recipients will be hooded and escorted by their major professors.

Other activities that afternoon:

  • 3 p.m.—A President’s Reception on the lawn of the President’s residence at 56 Upper College Road will honor all graduates and their families. (Rain site: Memorial Union Ballroom)

  • 4 p.m.—Presentation of President's Award for Student Excellence, Edwards Auditorium.
