Chinese Moon Festival, 2009
The URI Confucius Institute 2nd Annual Signature Event, the Chinese Moon Festival, will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009, the fullest moon of the year. The Moon Festival is not only a time to celebrate the Chinese version of American Thanksgiving, but it is also the anniversary of the Confucius Institute and an occasion to initiate all Confucius Institute programs in a new academic year. The festival provides the opportunity to welcome the University’s new president, Dr. David M. Dooley, as well to welcome faculty and students, especially those who have come to URI for its Chinese programs. A 24-course dinner with Chinese Moon Cakes will be served and your event ticket will allow you to enjoy an authentic performance of lion dance and Chinese martial arts by Hubei University Lion Dance and Martial Arts Troupe on October 10th.

Time: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Place: URI Memorial Union Ballroom
Cost: $30 for adults and $10 for students with a valid college ID with admission to the Chinese lion dance and martial arts performance on October 10th.
The Lion Dance and Chinese Martial Arts Performance by Hubei University Lion Dance and Martial Arts Troupe on Saturday will be held on Saturday, October 10th.
Place: URI Edwards Auditorium
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Price: $5 for adults and free for students with a valid college ID.
Tickets are available in advance at the Confucius Institute located in the URI Library.

By Car From the North:
Take I-95 South to R.I. Exit 9 (a left-lane exit onto Rte. 4 South). Follow Rte. 4 to Rte. 1 South until you reach Rte. 138 West, just past the Holiday Inn. (Don't take the first Rte. 138 exit-this would take you east to Newport.) Travel approximately 4 miles on Rte. 138 West; URI will be on the right. Come through the main entrance on Upper College Road, take a left onto Campus Ave. Turn right onto Lower College Road and the Union will be at the end of the circle. Parking is available behind the Union
By Car From the South:
Take I-95 North to R.I. Exit 3A to Rte. 138 East. URI is about 7 miles down Rte. 138, on the right. Come through the main entrance on Upper College Road. Take a left onto Campus Ave. Turn right onto Lower College Road and the Union will be at the end of the circle. Parking is available behind the Union.
*If parking lot behind the Union is full, follow Campus Ave. to a four-way stop and go straight to Briar Lane. Turn left to the parking lot after the Police Station.
